One of the things I miss most about living on the East Coast is having REAL SEASONS–winter included! As a kid, I would obsessively watch the weather channel, praying there would be just enough snow for a school delay or closing.  Then we’d spend mornings sledding, having hot cocoa, and roasting marshmallows–all things I NEVER get to do here in California.  This year, instead of being sad about that, I decided to schedule some shoots in NYC so I could have the cozy kind of winter I remembered from my childhood!
Well, I missed the snow by ONE day, but I did get to shoot the most colorful, fun, winter photos for my first ever SHOOT & SHARE day (if you’re interested in getting on the wait list for one in your city, please leave a comment below with that city), !  Lindsay and Amir were fabulous models (and a real couple, of course), and we covered most of the West Village just running around and having a great time!
Plus, as a HUGE bonus, I have partnered with RUCHE, my favorite online boutique, who provided Lindsay’s entire wardrobe for this shoot!  I absolutely ADORE Ruche–I shop there all the time, and I’m super stoked to be one of their affiliate bloggers now!  The best thing about our new partnership is that this month I have my own featured section on their site where I have chosen all my favorite things to wear for a WINTER ENGAGEMENT SHOOT!!  So if you’re a lucky bride having engagement photos done somewhere chilly this season, check out my picks for what to wear by clicking the link below!

Also, you might notice Lindsay’s fabulous green hat and black and gold polka dot fascinator–both of those were borrowed from Preston & Olivia, who makes headpieces to DIE for, so check them out!

Here we go! We started off shooting on Downing St, a fantastic little area where we were based for the day (thank you SO much S&L, for allowing me to use your fab place as our home base!)!
Lindsay’s red & black plaid jacket was my FAVORITE piece we used from Ruche!

It’s so awesome how you can see Lindsay’s breath in the air–it was SO cold that day! I would turn around to say something to the group and find that my mouth just wouldn’t work right from the cold!

There are TONS of little spots to shoot in the West Village. It’s for sure my favorite part of NYC to photograph:

Lindsay & Amir were so much fun to photograph–it’s great to have a couple who are comfortable with one another and with 15 photographers all shooting at the same time!

Just a little side street with even light:

It’s interesting–NYC is the one place I don’t care what the weather is when I shoot. Here in So. Cal I prefer sunny days (duh!), but there I can shoot in any type of weather and love the mood of the photos for what it is:

I love these two!

A cute shot of a cute couple and a cute coat and cowl (lots of c’s)!

Lindsay and Amir are actually newlyweds, but I’m sure it was fun to play engaged couple 🙂

I picked up Amir’s gloves at Urban Outfitters for $10!

Adorable 🙂

The variety of color and contrasting areas in the city is really amazing:

We headed to Washington Square Park next:

I was afraid he would fall down the stairs, but Lindsay held on tight 🙂

Almost enough to make me want to move East…almost!

A few black and whites for variety:

And time for an outfit change!

Lindsay changed into this SUPER fun outfit, also all from RUCHE! The blue jacket and yellow tall socks were such a fun pop of color against the NYC backdrop:

A few little details! To see the coat & socks online, click the photo below!

A few individual shots are a must-have for any engagement session!

Lindsay just HAD to put on another little Preston & Olivia head piece!

It was FREEZING out, but Lindsay just had to show off her whole outfit, and the little polka dot lining of the jacket!

Just having fun in the city:

We were totally blessed with AWESOME light for part of the shoot:

Not to mention, location, couple, group, helpers, and the whole day in general!

When I saw this old cab, of course I had to use it:

But even I couldn’t have dreamed up steam coming up through a vent JUST at the right moment:

In a word…perfection.

Thanks so much to RUCHE, Lindsay & Amir, S&L, Trent, and Dara for all their help with this shoot! And definitely check out SHOP RUCHE when you get a chance–it’s my go-to when I need an online shopping fix STAT!
