Friends & Family

I'm sure some of you noticed I haven't updated my blog in a few days--its because I've been home here in Cary, NC and have been running around trying to see everyone in the few days I'm here! I am back in town for a wedding in High Point tomorrow, so I figured I'd take a couple extra days and see a few friends that I haven't gotten to hang out with in awhile.

First and foremost, my family. I realize that this is a completely heinous photo, you can't even really see my mom, but hey, we're all together which doesn't happen too often lately with me living out in California. I'm so glad my brother was able to come hang out for awhile, even though he is super busy becoming a chef and works pretty much all the time:

The first friends I got to see were Carolyn & Allison. I first met these two girls when I was waiting tables when I was like, 18 (an experience I will NEVER repeat), and they were hostesses at the same restaurant. I used to feel like I was so much older than them (they were 15 or 16 at the time), but as we've gotten older and stayed in touch, it's leveled out a lot. Now they are two of my closest friends back here and I never miss an opportunity to hang with them:

I think they (ok, we ALL) have come a long way since the old days. At least they no longer feel compelled to match when we go out (hey, it was the late 90's!):

This is me and Amanda. Amanda and I have been really close friends since high school and have stayed close ever since. Amanda recently got married and found out she's expecting a baby--its a boy!--in September and I can't wait to be an Auntie:

No trip home would be complete without seeing Hailly and Katie. Hailly is a friend from NC State and Katie is a friend from both high school and college. We all sang together in an a cappella singing group for a few years, and of course, we had to go to Karaoke:

Hailly is the one who actually drove out with me when I moved to California. Although we were both dreading such a long drive (three 12 hour days and an 8 hour day, all the way from one end of 1-40 in North Carolina to the other end in Barstow, California, we had such a great time! I will never forget it.

I got to hang out with my good friend Nick also! Nick and I went to senior prom together in high school and although I looked EVERYWHERE for that photo, I couldn't dig it up. Trust me, we both look much much better:

One of my favorite, most missed things about North Carolina. You can get sweet tea everywhere, in every restaurant no matter how cheap or fancy. California really needs to adopt this practice:

And because I was feeling a little nostalgic, my mom & I dug through some old photos. I found this one from Appalachian, the first college I went to. This is my first car, a 1977 Cadillac Coupe DeVille. I absolutely loved this car and miss it every day, although a little bit less now considering the gas it guzzled! As you can see, it was plenty big enough to fit me and several friends:

This is the photo my mom found. I was about three years old and I think I look like Annie. I actually remember the day this photo was taken, which is just really weird. I remember hating the itchy sweater I was wearing, which is funny because I really love it now and wish I had it in my size! Anyway, here's me as a redheaded little mischievous child:
