JVS Seminar...gone wild

I went to Dallas this weekend for the 3 day JVS Seminar (for those non-photographers, JVS is a fabulous photographer and lighting genius). Unfortunately, JVS got sick and the seminar was cancelled, but that didn't stop us from having some fun until we could fly back out of Dallas! Jason Hudson, another awesome photographer from Arkansas was there, and he took some of us out and showed us a few cool lighting tricks. One of the best things is that me, Susan Stripling, and Jennifer Dery got to play "models" and we were workin' some serious attitude! I will post some of the photos we got of them later today once I go through them.

It was really weird being on the other side of the camera. In most of the pictures I look mean, but in a few of them it works. I definitely picked up a few things about directing brides and models that I'm shooting from Jason. I think it was good for me to be on the other side for a little while, to see how the other half feels! As a wedding photographer in California, it is important to do something with my photography that separates me from the 100 or so other photographers that all live within 30 miles of me, and I think with a good knowledge of different kinds of lighting and a few trick moves in my bag, I am on my way to doing that!

A few of Jason's rockin' shots:
