March 25th-Katie & John's wedding with Mike Colon

Buckle in readers, this one is a long post! Yesterday was an amazing day! I got to shoot a wedding with my friend Mike Colon , one of the top photographers in the country. I remember hearing about Mike a few years ago when I was living in North Carolina, and it never crossed my mind that one day I might go along to shoot a wedding with him. What an experience! Not only is Mike an amazing shooter, but just seeing the way he interacts with everyone at the wedding from the bride and groom, to the guests, to the other vendors was a learning experience in and of itself. Mike just has such an ease about him, a quiet confidence and at the same time he is always clearly in control and on top of things. Everyone at his weddings just loves him! Here is a shot of Mike in action:

About the wedding--wow. I have never seen something so beautiful and extravagant, and with such a lovely and down-to-earth couple. Katie and John's day really was perfect. The ceremony was beautiful and the ballroom was decked out in the most gorgeous way--it would be a crime if Mike didn't get this wedding published!

Ok, the decor at this wedding was nothing short of AMAZING. They brought in wall to wall white carpeting, draped linens around the whole room, and of course, had Square Root on flower duty:

Probably my favorite detail of the day, the CAKE!:

Mike, thanks so much for letting me tag along. You are awesome! Also, Shyla & Kristin, it was so fun to hang with you!
