Jennifer & Tizoc-September 23, 2005


First of all, I am sorry that I have not been better about updating my blog lately. I have been from California, to North Carolina, to Maui, then back to the OC in the past week, so I have a little bit of catching up to do!

Today's entry is from Jennifer & Tizoc's wedding in Maui at the White Orchid Beach House. To say that Jenn & Tizoc are a cool couple would be putting it mildly. When we showed up to do their beach shoot in Kaanapali the day before the wedding, we were expecting that there would be a little bit of warm up time before we could get them to really work the camera, but they plunged right in--literally! This couple was just so into each other and the spirit of making fantastic pictures in a beautiful location, we really just couldn't miss.

Let me tell you a little bit more about how cool Jenn & Tizoc are. When they hired me to shoot their wedding on the 23rd (Friday), I told them up front that I already had a wedding booked for the 24th back in California, so I would need to catch a really early flight back after their wedding to make sure I was back in time for that. Considering that their ceremony was at 10am, it meant that I would have to leave them at noon at the latest and I wouldn't be able to shoot the reception at all. They said, "no problem", and let me shoot from 7am to noon, then hired a second photographer to come and shoot all the formal photos after I left! While I don't really hate family photos, I will say that they are definitely far from the best part of the day. I really appreciated that they loved my work enough to only have me there for a little while, and really let me shoot how I thought was best. I hope that the photos speak for themselves!

On another note, I do want to add a special thank you to my good friend Becker for coming with me on this trip. We had a fantastic time and how lucky were Jenn, Tizoc and I to have him shooting with me?!!
