Blogstories--Sarah & Lando

A couple of years ago, my good friend James had the idea to do a collection of his clients' favorite images. I've been thinking about that ever since he started it, and I thought it might be a neat thing to add to my blog! So from now on, once a week or so (or more if ya'll hurry up and write in!), I will feature a client and their 1 or 2 favorite images with their own words about why that photo is their favorite.

So if you are a current of former client who has ever had me shoot their engagement ("will you"), wedding ("i do"), honeymoon ("we did"), or children, send me an email to jessica@jcsphoto.com with your favorite image number and why that photo either is your favorite, means the most to you, or is important to you in some other way. Your choice is your own--it doesn't necessarily have to be a shot of the two of you, or the most obvious choice. I would love to know what image resounds with you and why, so start sending them in!

Today, my first feature is Sarah & Lando, whose engagement session I shot at the North Carolina State Fair a couple of months ago. Their wedding is going to be in Washington DC this September, and will definitely be the DC event of the year!

Here's what Sarah and Lando had to say:

#25 -- I love this photo because it authentically captures us in a great candid and unexpected moment.  As we arrived at the NC State Fair for the engagement session, we played a water gun game I happen to win!  As I stood up from the game, Lando grabbed me and giggled happiness into my ear.  He often does this when he's happy for me, no matter how trivial the event, and that's why I love this photo so much!  Jessica captured that moment, and we didn't even know it -- I thought she wanted us to play a little game to get us loosened up for the photo session, but little did I know that it had already begun!  Jessica is great at hiding and letting her couples play around in a natural, and unforced way-- it's the reason I think her work is so spectacular.

#68 --  This photo just makes me smile!  There we are, dressed up on a carousel at a State Fair-- Lando with his signature pocket square and me in a skirt and pearl earrings.  It's like we're on an old-fashioned date.  The expression on Lando's face is like "Come on, everyone should be on a carousel looking like we do!"

Thanks so much to these guys for participating! Also, a big congratulations goes out to Lando who just joined on the NYC law firm of WilmerHale. Also, don't feel intimidated by Sarah's wonderful writing--she is currently editing a book, so her skills far outdo most of the people I know :)

So who's next?!
