Maternity sneak peek Sat. September 13, 2008 people
I shot an INCREDIBLE maternity session today! I'll be doing a long post on these in the next week or two, but for now, here's one of my faves from our shoot:
**Jessica Claire was just named one of the Top 10 Wedding Photographers in the World for 2008 by American Photo Magazine!!**
In my mother's house, there are boxes full of albums that contain memories of my childhood. A snippet here, a moment there, as a collection they represent the times of my life. However, with all the boxes of albums, there is no album that completely documents any one event in my life such that I can remember every detail. That isn't to say that the photos I do have mean less--in fact it's the opposite! However, there have been many times that I've wished for a complete story instead of just a page or two.
My portrait/experience sessions are designed to capture an event or a moment in the life of your family! During our session, you should choose an activity (and a wardrobe) that represents your day to day life--yes, that means no posing in matching outfits with all your aunts and uncles on the beach with the sun behind you! I would rather see the two of you playing soccer in the backyard with your children, your daughter's third birthday party, a shopping trip with your teenage daughter, the two of you at home, barefoot with your new baby--a slice of your life that you want to remember. Engagement, boudoir, and maternity sessions also fall under this category. Even if I am not available to photograph your wedding, you can still participate in a Jessica Claire portrait experience!
Portrait experiences normally last about 1.5 hours, but can be less or more depending on what you are doing. All experiences come with an album of our shoot and all photos will be posted online for ordering prints. Framing is available, and we have a team available to help you select frames, as well as view your home to choose the best size, shape, and color for your house. After all of the photos are chosen, we'll have them professionally installed for you as well.
Sessions begin at $2500 and all sessions include your shoot, online posting, a custom, leather book of our session. For more information, select "connect" from the navigation above and choose "I'm a client" to send me an email and tell me more about the kind of shoot you are interested in!
You might remember a little shoot I did for Drew Bittel and her husband, Chuck. Here was one of the shots from that shoot:
The weirdest thing happened--it turns out that Drew wasn't just eating lots of pies and ice cream, there was actually a BABY in there, and he came out the other day! February 12th to be exact, and weighing over 8 pounds. I know that this will sound stupid, but it is so weird that babies can actually live inside you and then they come out and there was this whole person growing in there. Weird.
Anyway, I got to meet Drew and Chuck's new little guy, Brayden, on Saturday and he is such a FANTASTIC baby! First of all, he is adorable, which I knew he would be. He was also an excellent model, which he also was at the maternity shoot. He let us move him around and do what we wanted for the most part, and only peed on Chuck one time, which wasn't too bad.
The best time to shoot newborns is at about two weeks, and as Brayden was 12 days old at this time, it was the absolute perfect day for a session. It rained, so we kept him in and played around the house a bit. Here's what we got:
Brayden is just a perfect little guy!
And Drew looks so at home being a new mommy:
First little family photo:
I love the feeling of this one. I can't wait for Brayden to look at it when he's all grown up.
His room is so peaceful:
Why do I love this photo? Because Chuck is changing the diaper!
He'll be serving about 1 year in prison:
He looks so tiny here!
Check out the little UCLA mobile. He started to get a bit fussy but as soon as they put him in the crib and turned the mobile on, he calmed right down:
I think he looks exactly like Chuck in this photo:
I love this one:
And this one:
Hauggy, the family dog, is adjusting to his new brother:
A new position that Brayden liked:
This was shot on the infamous white couch from the maternity session:
I became interested in their family from Hauggy's perspective:
Chuck and Drew giving some love to their first born while Brayden tries to figure out what's going on:
Great news for Brayden, not so much for Hauggy:
That's it! We tired the little guy out:
I do love this shot of me with Brayden that Drew shot--I'm like the baby whisperer:
Coming soon to a nursery near you: Carolina! Fri. February 15, 2008 people
Last week, I shot a great maternity session for Maajed and his wife, Tahaane, who are expecting baby Carolina pretty soon! I adored them immediately. They are so excited for the birth of their first baby, and boy, are they ever prepared! They are such kind, genuine people that this baby is so lucky to be getting them as parents. Carolina is going to have a wonderful childhood and life, and is wanted SO much.
Wouldn't you want to live in this room?! By the way, "Carolina" is pronounced Carol LEENA, not like the state, Carolina.
Maajed's grandmother did this needlepoint and wasn't able to complete it before she passed. However, look how cool it is that her actual needle is still in there in the lower left!
We shot a bit in other parts of the house:
But I kept wanting to come back to the baby's room:
I thought we should incorporate Carolina's already large collection of stuffed animals:
I love this shot of Tahaane:
After a quick session at the house, we went over to Mecca, which some people refer to as Fashion Island here in Newport Beach:
Can you find THREE kiddos in this photo? ;)
So sweet! You know, we had to be really careful of where we shot on this merry-go-round, because some of the animals on there were very creepy!
Probably not Carolina's first shopping trip, but it is the first documented one:
They have these spitting fountains at Fashion Island, so it was a good opportunity to splash!
Last one--a nice clean portrait. I think Tahaane looks absolutely beautiful here:
Good luck with the baby, and I can't wait to meet little Carolina!
Drew and Chuck are expecting! Wed. December 5, 2007 people
This week, I shot a maternity session for Drew and her husband Chuck who are expecting their first baby in a couple of months. The baby is a boy and will be named Braden! So instead of shooting at their home, which isn't quite baby ready just yet, they had this idea to take a little white couch around with us and shoot in a couple of different places! It was so much fun!
It's always a little interesting when a photographer hires me. Of course it is flattering, but another benefit is that no matter what I ask them to do, they pretty much do without any complaining. Chuck said it was Drew's payback for all the things she makes her own clients do, and I'm sure I would get the same if I ever had a session done for some reason. Anway, enjoy these fun photos, it's going to be so fun to meet the little guy when he comes!
These guys are so cute together. You should have seen Chuck dragging that white couch from place to place (okay, fine, i helped him out a little bit):
There is only one place in OC where you can drop a couch in the middle of the road and nobody bothers you. Reminds me of North Carolina!:
Drew is going to have two crazy guys to deal with soon!
Luckily, one of them will be small enough to deal with :)
During maternity shoots, you should always emphasize the bump:
And great hair:
Let's face it, Drew can work it. She's great on both sides of the camera!
I know that this photo doesn't say "maternity", but it does say, "aren't we going to have a gorgeous kid?":
I loved this image, helped out with some textures from Jesh De Rox
If you want to buy textures to work with his is THE set to get:
A quiet moment (probably the last one for awhile):
I do love my flare:
But every now and then I will experiment a little, especially when I am working with another photographer. Sometimes it can be fun to play with a little off-camera light. Some people think I don't know how to do this, but I do. I just odn't like to :)
If only Abercrombie and Fitch did maternity clothes, Drew could be the model:
Our last location:
There's something peaceful about this one:
I love a good blur every now and then:
Sweet:
This baby is so lucky to be getting such wonderful parents. I know it's probably scary before you have a baby, but you are going to do an amazing job!
