Alice & Sam’s Engagement

Tue. April 3, 2007   |   will you
Right before Vegas, I shot Alice & Sam's engagement session at the St. Regis in Monarch Beach, where I will be shooting their wedding in just about 6 weeks!

Normally I don't like to shoot engagement sessions at the same location where the wedding will be because we'll already have plenty of shots from there on the wedding day, but since I don't usually have the run of the St. Regis due to other weddings going on there most Saturdays, I figured we may as well take advantage of it!

Things started off ordinarily enough--typical devestatingly good looking couple all dressed up:

But then things started to get a little odd. It's a good thing that the St. Regis had this sign up to warn us!

The rotunda area is filled with beautiful light during the day

I mentioned that I'd always wanted to see someone defy all standards of St. Regis decorum and slide down this bannister and Sam was up for the challenge!

My instructions were to make the guests at the bar uncomfortable:

The entire day the sky was dark with the threat of rain, but we decided to brave the beach anyway. I'm so glad we did! The heavy clouds photograph so beautifully

It was a very windy day

They obviously need one of those flying object warning signs here too!

The sun peeked out again towards the end of the shoot but it was actually kind of raining anyway. It was so unusual and gorgeous!

You can kind of see the raindrops here

Since they were wet from the rain anyway...

Thanks for a great shoot and your patience waiting for this blog entry. Can't wait till the wedding!!
