Missy & Gary Are Married! Wed. August 29, 2007 i do
Well, yesterday was the big day for Gary & Missy, and it was everything anyone could have expected to be and more. The day started off overcast and a little drizzly, but Gary is blessed with the golden touch so it was really no surprise to anyone that just minutes before the ceremony was to take place, the clouds cleared and the sun broke through streaming over the lawn at the ranch in Kelowna.
I can't say enough good things about this couple or this wedding. You might think that with all these photographers around it would be business talk non-stop, and there is a bit of that, but Gary and Melissa have created such an amazing atmosphere here at their home that you relax almost the minute you walk through the door.
If you know Gary and Melissa, you know that Gary's energy is rambunctious and loud, while Missy is more quiet and observant, but it's so obvious how well they balance each other out. Their ceremony was one of the most emotional I've ever heard or seen--even me, who never even listens as vows are said, couldn't keep it together when Gary first saw Missy walk down the aisle.
Anyway, I could go on, but I think I'll just share a bunch of photos for now, and of course a slideshow to celebrate the wedding of the year!
And of course, a slideshow! It's a long one, so get comfortable. It WILL take several minutes to load:
I have to give a HUGE thank you to Jen Bebb who drove all the way down from Vancouver to shoot this wedding with me. Jen rocks, so check out her blog, she should have some shots up there soon! JEN'S BLOG
I am up in Canada for the wedding of the year... Tue. August 28, 2007 my life
I am up in Kelowna, Canada for Gary and Missy's wedding! This place couldn't be more beautiful, and I am having a blast! It's just like Vegas, except that I am not drinking as much and it is more fun because I don't have to get up early to go work at the shootsac booth and I already know everyone here so I don't have to introduce myself all the time.
Also, my friend Jen Bebb is here to shoot with me, which I couldn't be more excited about!
Yesterday most people had already arrived so we all spent the day up at the ranch hanging out, eating, swimming, and having a good time. I didn't shoot much yesterday, but I did snag a few photos here and there:
The ranch--it is even more gorgeous in person. You wouldn't believe this place. I can see why anyone who comes here never wants to leave!
Melissa, looking gorgeous, she is going to be one hot bride today!
with Jess Strickland amazing photographer and all-around fun person to hang out with!
Jess and Lauren Chapman, equally fun and awesome (you'll be able to see more photos of Lauren as the new shootsac poster model soon)
Joe Buissink, here to officiate the wedding, with his son:
David Jay, looking like an ad for some singles resort like club med:
One cool think that Gary and Missy did was have a masseuse on hand all day for anyone that wanted massages. Here's Mike Colon, peacefully enjoying a massage.
He probably should have been a little more careful! Look at what happens around here when you close your eyes for a second:
Can't wait to show you all photos from the wedding today! Wish me luck!
This Saturday, Braedon & I drove down to San Diego for Amy & Jason's wedding. Amy and Jason are such a sweet couple. They found the location, the Thursday Club together and it was especially important to them because it's right by where they met. As they've been together for so long, it didn't come as a surprise to anyone that they got married, everyone was just so excited to celebrate with them and share in their happiness.
Amy had a cute outfit on when I showed up:
The getting ready room was just adorable:
Cheers! Amy's girls were all just the nicest, coolest girls.
A couple portraits of gorgeous Amy:
Here's Jason with little ring bearer Dominick--he was such a poser!
This is my favorite moment from the wedding, Jason watching Amy walk down the aisle. You can see behind Jason, the guy with his hand on Jason's shoulder is Dave, Amy's brother.
Amy was really luminous:
Just a pretty detail of the brooches the girls tied to their bouquets:
Right after the ceremony:
A few portraits of the couple:
My absolute favorite portrait of the day:
First dance
Father daughter dance:
Amy getting down on the dance floor with one of the groomsmen:
Cake! Yum.
Heading out!
This car shot is just for Gina, Amy's mom:
I have to give a shout out to Katie and John Minardi, whom I met last year at their own wedding! I second shot their wedding for super-talent Mike Colon, and it was so fun to see them again. Katie, I have some end of the night photos of John I'll send you!
Amy & Jason, congratulations on the wedding and thank you so much for having us there! You were a blast to work with, have fun on the honeymoon! n

WISH ME LUCK! This is the craziest schedule I've ever had. Three countries, 5 weddings, 2.5 weeks, thousands of frequent flier miles...here we go!
The other day I go to go up to LA to shoot with a couple of great kids and their mom. Jackson and Theo are little balls of energy, little boys through and through! One of the things I love about shooting children is their irreverence and lack of false expressions, and these boys were perfect subjects.
First, a shot of the kids with their mom:
I always make sure to shoot photos of each child individually to try to capture their own personality. Look at this gorgeous kid, Jackson:
He had a wide range of expressions:
Theo, the little guy was a bit dubious about the shoot at first:
But when he warmed up he was smiling the whole time:
I'm not sure whose idea it was to play at the pool, but Jackson knows no limits--he jumped in fully clothed, rockstar-style!
Then laughed at us when we told him to get out because really, we couldn't do anything without going in ourselves!
Theo was a bit more cautious but no less adorable:
After a quick costume change, we did manage to grab a few photos of the boys together:
If you're interested in having me shoot your children (in the photography sense of course), shoot me an email to jessica@jcsphoto.com
