Kim & Marty: Married at St. Monica’s & Casa Del Mar
Wed. January 11, 2012 | i do
Kim and Marty's wedding in Santa Monica was definitely the event of the season! While I love every wedding I get to be a part of, there are a few each year that I really look forward to for one reason or another, and this was one of them. Part of it was the location--Casa Del Mar and St. Monica's are two places in LA that I think are just really beautiful and located perfectly for photography. I photographed a wedding a few years ago with that exact combination that I just loved so it was familiar territory. Also, when I heard that Kelley Gin of PIcture Perfect Events was the coordinator on this wedding, I knew the day would run perfectly with, of course, plenty of time for photos :)
The icing on the cake though, was Kim & Marty. When you get a really welcoming, kind couple who orchestrate a beautifully detailed and meaningful day, you just can't lose!

Kim getting ready at Casa Del Mar in beautiful morning light:
An invitation suite by the famed Ceci of New York complete with custom laser cut invites & envelopes:
The invitation paper was so thick and regal feeling that i just HAD to use it for something!
A Monique Lhuillier gown to die for:
Seriously, I was obsessed with it:
The flowers were done by another vendor I had been dying to work with, Eddie from TIc Tock in LA:
Kim was the picture of a beautiful, calm bride:
In an (again) INCREDIBLE gown:
Every bride needs a little help:
Forgive me :)
Long veils are the best:
A few pretties:
Marty, looking absolutely dapper:
and having some fun with his favorite men before the ceremony:
I love shots like this where every single person tells a story:
Kim's proud parents look on:
I had to make some soft portraits of Kim:
Arriving at church!
Processional & recessional:
...and everything in between (this shot was by Katie up in the balcony. I love the balcony here!
I was up front getting some expressions during the ceremony:
and roaming around:
Married and finally RELAXED!
It was a grey day but it doesn't make Santa Monica any less cool:
actually, I think it adds to the atmosphere of these photos:
I don't know what he said, but it was really really funny!
Newlywed time :)
One thing I always try to do is photograph the bride alone a few times. Most brides hate when their hair blows in the wind, but Kim rocked it like a champ:
More walking, kissing, and showing off amazing shoes:
A little black and white goes a long way:
two of my faves:
boardwalks and deserted beaches = rad:
Love the feeling here:
One in the lobby of Casa del Mar:
the room: elegant and classy without being garish. they really hit the mark on this one:
I loved the pop of color in the lower arrangements:
and the crystals in the larger ones:
More fun stuff:
First dance:
toasting:
I LOVE the father daughter dance, always.
but i have to admit that since having my son, i feel something special when I watch a mom dance with her son now too:
observing:
My fave reception shot of the evening:
I can STILL smell how good this cake was:
Party!!
Kim & Marty, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your day! I absolutely loved it.
