Mark Barnes: Awesome review, I am a Canon 5DMKIII user as well. I'm just wondering do you primarily shoot with the 5DMKIII as your main camera and also what lenses do you mainly use? I see you have a love for primes.
5.6.13, 11:51AM Gabriel Malgo: I'm looking forward to my new camera! today or tomorrow i will receive my canon 5d mark III !!! :) all my fotos i taken, are shoot with the 5d classic. this is a great review. it would be great if there is possible to download highres-images of this review. but anyway tomorrow i will see it by my self :)))

3.25.13, 6:03AM michaelandcarina: Wow, I can tell I am going to need to come back and go over this blog again. Am torn between a Mk III and/or a 6D. Very interesting blog, thank you!
10.27.12, 3:39AM Lydia: Thanks for posting the Shutter Speeds, ISO, Apertures Information. Very interesting; Lovely wedding photography.
10.1.12, 5:25AM Lem Lynch: I've been looking into a Mark III for my next camera. This is a really excellent review.
9.10.12, 2:30PM Andrew: Great review! and an extra bonus being able to shoot to two cards!
8.17.12, 8:40PM desi: oooh! your review excites me so much! i upgraded last week from the mki to the mkiii, but i haven't had that much time to play.
really nice to see the review, especially since you also upgraded from the mki
enjoy your camera
8.14.12, 6:05AM Mark Andrew: Thanks for sharing your thought on the 5dMarkIII. I'm a Nikon shooter and not happy with D800 and thinking of a hybrid approach using both systems.
5.22.12, 11:13AM Jason: Awesome SOOCs. Are you shooting Raw or jpeg? If jpeg, using a "picture style"? 5.12.12, 12:40AM
Greg: The Wildflower Show photos are gorgeous! Can you tell us which Canon Picture Styles you used? And did you tweak the Picture Style? Thanks for the great review. 5.10.12, 1:59PM
Diane : Which PICTURE STYLES did you use on the table shots? Beautiful! 5.10.12, 1:47PM
Danny Kash: Hi Jessica, great review!! What picture style did you use for these photos?
5.10.12, 12:17PM Donna: Beautiful photos! Like Yvonne, I too was wondering which picture style you were using. Would you mind sharing that and also, did you tweak the picture style settings in camera or use the default settings? Thanks! 5.3.12, 2:05AM
Christina: Thank you for this review, I am looking at purchasing the Mark iii and love seeing and hearing what other people think.
4.24.12, 11:53AM Micah Jones: I love my mark iii. You definitely have to take the time to learn to set your focus points and during wedding ceremonies be able to toggle back and forth with your focus points. It's much different than the mark ii, but so much better. The iso is amazing!
4.22.12, 6:01PM Jamie: Reviewing this again today... thank you so much! Can't wait to upgrade the mark iii!!
4.16.12, 1:15PM Gregg Shaw: Beautiful images Jessica. I too have been holding on to my first generation 5d, waiting for an improved focusing system. And it seems like they finally got it right! Your review has convinced me... :)
4.11.12, 11:17AM yvonne: Thank you so much for the review. I was wondering what picture style you were using. I really like the colors you got SOOC and picture styles make such a difference, so I was just curious so that I can compare a bit more in the shadow/highlight areas. Thanks!
4.10.12, 5:06PM Krista Martin: Thanks for the review Jessica! Can't wait to buy one.
4.7.12, 7:06PM Jennifer Bowen: Hi Jessica. I did upgrade from the original 5D to the Mk 2 a couple years ago and basically disliked the second version so much that I was forced to buy the 1D Mark 4 simply to get a camera that focused reliably. I felt the Mk 2 focused even worse than the original because they left in the same 9-pt focus system in a higher resolution camera. 8 out of 10 shots were unusable from that thing. The 1D Mk 4 was significantly better - 8 out of 10 were tack sharp (and had the silent shutter, and very high ISO), so despite it not being a full frame, it quickly replaced the Mark 2 as my workhorse and has been super reliable. I jumped when I saw they were finally replacing the original focus system for this Mark 3 and brought over much from the 1D. Mine arrived yesterday and I'm duly impressed as well. It's much more reliable and the color out of it beautiful.
One note to your comment on the SET button - I believe you can customize whichever features you want to show up with that button, including Picture Style. It's in Custom Functions. Also, you can definitely register "Format Card" and any other main functions you use regularly to your own set of Favorite Functions under My Menu (the star on the far right) so that you don't have to go through so many steps to reformat.
4.4.12, 8:56PM The Good Photographer: Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts, comments and experiences with the new camera. What's going to happen to your original 5Ds?
Are you completely switching over to two 5D mark III bodies so you can have one set of batteries and accessories, or will you hang on to both systems?
4.4.12, 2:40PM Shaun and Alana: Great review! We are looking into the 5D Mark III and this was great to read.
Thanks
4.4.12, 2:18PM Kara: Yay! I love the pictures of Locke! He's super adorable! :) Thanks for the new pix!! 4.3.12, 7:27PM
Jennifer Sirris: great images! you said that you don't "need" this camera, but I can't get such a crisp image at ISO 3200.... mine have a lot of noise and pixelation. do you think this a true benefit of the Mark III? thanks!
4.3.12, 5:22PM Claire: Hi Jessica! Just curious as to which CF cards and SD cards you are using? Thanks! :)
3.31.12, 4:43PM Helga : Great, great post! 3.31.12, 10:22AM
Debbie:
I just got mine and ♥ it!!
It's like the perfect fusion of the
7D and the full frame of the 5DM2. 3.30.12, 10:05PM
christen barnes: Shame on you, Jessica Claire! Yet another thing I'm drooling over.
3.30.12, 1:21AM Monica Hodges: Love, love, love the shots you got! Love seeing the info about focusing! I'm thinking that this should be my wedding present from my fiance':)! Thanks for your review!! 3.29.12, 3:09PM
rich: very awesome review! 16,000 iso? wow - what a camera!
3.29.12, 2:11PM Katelyn James: YAYYY!!!!! Mine is coming and I was PRAYING you loved yours! Now I'm PUMPED!!!!!! HOORAY FOR MINIMAL FOCUSING FAILURES!!!!
3.29.12, 12:56PM Allison Christians Photography: Great review! I agree that the camera doesn't make the picture, but it sure can make the picture easier!
3.29.12, 8:27AM Lydia: Thanks so much for sharing, Jessica! I'm so excited to get mine in the mail tomorrow!
3.29.12, 4:11AM Kiddo Canovas: Hi maam ... I just want to ask if if in what settings you are shooting, i can see in your SOOC photo its a bit cooler, but in my case its it is warm which is i dont like, there some yellow spots esp in the dark areas ( shadows) ... Thank you for sharing your personal review about our new baby ... God Speed ...
3.29.12, 3:38AM April: Gorgeous crazy iso's girl! I agree, the camera and lenses are just tools. IMHO the better you become the better your tool better be or it gets in your way of creating the image.. One question, would you invest in lenses before a much more expensive camera? Thanks
3.28.12, 10:19PM Stacy Thiot: I've been waiting to hear news from a reliable source on this new camera - awesome review! I love your SOOC images, they are wonderful. I'm dying to get my hands on the new Mark iii. If you're ever in LA, come visit!
3.28.12, 8:46PM Sarah: Your ISO 160,000 looks better than my 1600! I'm so ready for an upgrade!
3.28.12, 7:43PM Emily Heizer Photography: I'm a Sony girl, personally, and I love my cameras. In 7 wedding seasons I've never had to have a camera taken in for maintenace, not once. At least one camera has been out with me since the beginning. And not once. The only two issues I ever had involved being soaked by a big wave at the beach during two separate engagement sessions. Corrosion sucks. One camera was saved, one passed away. (may he rest in peace.) I do have a 7d I have used to play wtih video for the last 10 months or so, probably only 20-50 actuations on it, but Sony now has a video equivlant of the 7d so I want to sell it. Just not sure where I should do so. Hmmm. Great review though .Sony does NOT have ISO going up that high and it would be nice, I will say. The quality in low light in fantastic. Looks great Jess.
3.28.12, 6:45PM Katie Beverley: I want one!!!!! 3.28.12, 6:44PM
Tami Inoue: This was an awesome review!! Thanks for the Non-techy review of it. :) love it.
3.28.12, 6:08PM Anne: Thanks for the answer, Jessica! Sounds good - I can't wait for mine to arrive to try everything out. p.s. Locke in the crib is beyond adorable - I'm sure someday he'll treasure that photo as well.
3.28.12, 5:41PM Ashley Perez: Love your review, Jess, especially because of all the pretty pictures! Thanks for posting this! Can't wait to finally get mine when it ships (:
3.28.12, 5:38PM jessica claire: I did not/probably would not use auto ISO :) 3.28.12, 5:31PM
Pam Heggie: Thank you! Thank you! So nice of you to take the time to lay this out like that. I am waiting for my Mark3 in the mail and it sure makes it easier given the cost!! I can't wait for mine now!!!!
3.28.12, 5:27PM Anne: I just ordered the Mark lll a few days ago - I can't wait for it to arrive! Your review was super helpful and relatable - thanks! Question about Auto ISO in Manual - what are your thoughts?
3.28.12, 5:26PM Anna: thanks for sharing. great photos! love one with Locke and dog.
3.28.12, 5:21PM Jason Gualdoni: GREAT practical review! Glad to read about how someone USES the camera and how it performed, vs taking a static picture of wine bottles and Crayons. Glad you liked it, and hope it continues to work well for you. I shoot mainly sports of my son and his friends, so I'll probably never have a camera like this one, but glad to know the AF is MUCH improved! :D
3.28.12, 5:04PM Kari Jeanne: Thanks for the review!!! Hoping to get one in the somewhat near future!!
3.28.12, 5:00PM Emily: Your images are all so gorgeous--no matter what camera you use! Still, I really appreciate your honest review of the MK III. I have the MK II and have felt the same frustrations with the focusing system. At this point, I just can't afford to upgrade. So I appreciated your words about not needing it to be a better photographer:). Anyhow, thanks so much!
3.28.12, 4:59PM Mark Brooke: LOCKE IS RIDICULOUSLY CUTE!
3.28.12, 4:59PM jessica claire: By focus issues, I specifically mean lots of hunting for focus without locking on especially in less than ideal lighting, but EVEN WORSE THAN THAT, the camera locking on as if it were focusing correctly, but when I bring the images in and look closer later, they aren't actually sharp. Nothing makes me madder when I shoot than a camera telling me the images are in focus when in fact, they are not. This is after camera cleaning & calibration. Obviously the lenses were not the issue as these were shot with the same lenses and are sharp. 3.28.12, 4:58PM
Orbie Pullen : Thanks for the Review Jessica! I think I will go buy one:)
3.28.12, 4:56PM Alyssa Schroeder: Thanks for the review, Jessica. I love that you are comparing the mk3 to the original 5d which is what I shoot with now. Super helpful. I'm excited to hear you like the colours. That was one of the reasons I was avoiding the mk2. The improved speed for consecutive shooting also excites me.. anyone else get "busy" while shooting? Haha :)
3.28.12, 4:56PM Eric Roland: Great review, but could you elaborate on the issues you had with focus, please?
3.28.12, 4:53PM Crystal (momaziggy): LOVE this and your images. Thank you so much for this "real" review. I too still shoot with a Classic. I have good luck with focus and toggle my AF points and rarely use the center unless I want that comp. So good, fast, accurate focus for me is of course my #1 requirement! I wasn't sold on the 5d2 but am dying to get my hands on the 5D3 for the focus & ISO. So thanks again..this was a big help! Enjoy your new baby! 3.28.12, 4:51PM
Christina Dely: Thank you so much for this detailed & personal review! ...You may have just sold me ;)
3.28.12, 4:51PM ami: Thank you for the great review! I'm also kind of in love with the picture of tiny Locke in the giant bed with Acey in the foreground :)
3.28.12, 4:50PM Kerry: Thanks Jessica, great to get your impressions. This one is officially on our shopping list!
3.28.12, 4:49PM ami: Thank you for the great review! I'm also kind of in love with the picture of tiny Locke in the giant bed with Acey in the foreground :)
3.28.12, 4:48PM Meg: Enjoyed the review but enjoyed that photo of Locke laughing in bed so much more. That kid is SO CUTE! :)
