I met Ramy back a few years ago while I was shooting his sister, Shoshi's wedding. Shoshi is a very special person, and has come to be a friend, so when she let me know that Ramy was ready to marry Jazmon, I couldn't have been more thrilled! I remembered Ramy, and had found him to be incredibly nice and funny, so I knew that his wedding would be a fun one to be a part of, as well as slightly unorthodox for an Orthodox wedding! I just adore their whole family, and Jazmon makes a perfect addition.

Because they booked me relatively close to their wedding, I didn't have a chance to meet Jazmon beforehand but it didn't matter at all. Her personality and happiness are completely infectious and you cant help but love her the second you meet her!

Jazmon was a very calm bride--she was just happily enjoying the buzz and fuss around her, while she sat getting pretti-fied:

I took the opportunity to sneak in a few shots of the dress. I love the understated simplicity of it:

This little guy is Shoshi's son--isn't he just charming?! Those blue eyes sure do help him get his way:

I just love a good bow:

Some Jazmon portraits--she's so gorgeous!

Amazing...

Of course it was a perfect day:

I love this little series! When she was telling me what photos were important to her to have, she specifically told me she wanted some with this munchkin (sorry Ramy!)

Her parents had their house built with this day in mind. Having a shot of Jazmon on their beautiful staircase was also important:

Not to be outdone, Ramy sure was looking handsome himself:

But this is the real Ramy :)

Ramy and his crew of hoodlums:

After the portraits, it was time to begin the festivities (well, the official festivities). From this point on, with the exception of a few moments, the men and women are separate. Jazmon and her family, and the women in Ramy's family sit and chat with guests, who also give them blessings for their wedding and life together:

Meanwhile, Ramy and the men study, sing, pray, and sign the Ketubah. The Ketubah is read out loud, to make sure that Ramy knows what he's signing!

Afterwards, Ramy and the fathers come to Jazmon and place a veil over her head which stays on until the ceremony:

Then, both parents walk them each down the aisle:

At the ceremony, they all circle the groom seven times:

And then there's prayer:

Of course a ring is exchanged:

And finally they're married!

It was PITCH BLACK and raining! This photo was shot on the 5dMkII at 5000 ISO at 1.2!

Sneaky sneaky:

The last time they'll be together for a few hours:

The men and women dance separately, but there's a few moments where they see each other:

The girls throw a crazy party on their side:

So much fun!

Asset159377

I have no idea what the guys were doing on their side, but...well, I just don't know what to say about this one :)

Asset159378

Even Jazmon couldn't resist a peek:

I feared for my life when this happened:

Last, some quiet moments of prayer:

Jazmon & Ramy--it was an absolute HONOR to work with you, and DuBrow family, it was so much fun to see you again. Eliana, I'm coming for you next!!

Special thanks to FBIL (wow, that's kind of weird) Michael Norwood for second shooting!
