Meet Katie: Jessica Claire Associate!
Mon. December 5, 2011 | news
I am so excited to introduce a new offering from Jessica Claire Photography: Katie!
For the past year, Katie has been shooting weddings as an associate for my studio. We've kept it quiet while working out the kinks, but now that things are rolling along, I decided it was time to stop hiding her!
How does it work, you may ask? It's simple--Katie will be your photographer, and I (Jessica) will be your everything else! Since I am already staffed and set up to handle all of your questions, print orders, albums, and other little details, we work together this way as a team.
See her work at http://www.jessicaclaire.net/associates!
So who is this Katie, you may be asking. This is Katie:

I thought it would be fun to interview Katie so you could get to know her as well as I have over the past few years!
Me: Katie, what do you love about shooting weddings?
Katie: What is there NOT to love about weddings?! I am so drawn to how exciting weddings are! There is nothing more fun to shoot than happy couples, in love, looking their best, and getting married. They are filled to the brim with happy guests and beautiful little details and moments.
You might notice the flock of small children below! Katie is a mom of three and handles them in such an amazing way! She is for sure the fun mom on the block. If she can handle these guys, believe me, she can handle your rowdy groomsmen and wayward family members :)

Back to the interview!
Me: What makes you a good wedding photographer?
Katie: I have been shooting weddings professionally for 5 years and have been photographing people long before that--ever since my grandpa gave me a camera when I was in high school. Photographically speaking, sometimes lighting and locations and large amounts of family members can be tricky to manage and shoot on a wedding day. I'm prepared for all of that...and I even like it! I deliver images that are consistently beautiful, no matter what the day will bring. And grandmothers really really like me.

Me: Why should people book you?
Katie: The same is true now as it was when I first began shooting--I photograph weddings the way I would want someone to photograph MY wedding! As a bride, I wanted someone who would be FUN and someone who would make me look and feel beautiful and at ease. Most importantly, I wanted my photographer to be someone who understood and cared about the love I had for Mike and the love that went into each and every detail of my day. I've always seen bringing these important things to my couples as the best part of my job.

Me: How would you describe yourself?
Katie: Happy and easy-going, and up for anything interesting or fun! I am known to clap my hands out of excitement at times. Mike says it's embarrassing--I say it's a zest for life!

Me: You look too young to have three kids! Are you sure you're old enough to shoot a wedding?
Katie: I don't feel old enough to have acquired such a collection of children! Sometimes when I look at them I'm tempted to ask them when their parents are coming to pick them up. Just kidding! I feel super blessed to have them and to be able to do a job that I love at the same time. Balance is difficult, but when you set priorities and boundaries, it is totally doable. Establishing work hours and family hours is a must, and asking for help when you need it too!

Me: Tell us about how you met Mike, and about your relationship!
Katie: Mike and I started dating when we were sophomores in high school and have been together ever since! My mom had a rule..."NO boys till 16". Being the eager guy he was, Mike waited for my 16th birthday and asked me out that night. We dated through high school and always played the romantic leads together in our high school theater productions (we were nerds who liked the stage). We went to college 6 hours apart and talked on the phone every night. We both graduated early to get married in the dead of winter in 2005--and now we have three kids! That's us in fast-forward. I really can't imagine my life without him, and can't wait for more years with him. I have a bigger crush on him every day.

Me: Tell us 10 things about you that have nothing to do with photography
Katie:
1. When I was little I sang on stage with Liza Minnelli and was in Michael Jackson's, "Heal The World" video. I was one of the hundred kids holding a candle and you can't even see me. **behind the scenes drama--one of the candles lit a girls' hair on fire two rows in front of me and the stage moms freaked out!**
2. I dip pizza in mayonnaise
3. I have an accounting degree but make Mike do the taxes
4. I shop organic but hit the drive thru on my way home
5. When I was 9, I ate two double quarter pounders with cheese in one sitting
6. One time at Medieval Times I found out how allergic I am to horses
7. I love cheese, in a bowl, melted. And I feed it to my children
8. I make coffee-hating Mike sip my coffee now and then hoping he will acquire a taste for it so I can drink coffee with someone
9. Sometimes when I'm in the Starbucks drive-thru I pay for the person behind me and drive away!
10. My worst job ever was pollinating corn by hand in a cornfield in Illinios.
Well if that doesn't make you want to have this girl at your wedding, I don't know what will!
Packages with Katie begin at $2750, and if you are interested in working with us, just send a little email through OUR CONTACT FORM (and make sure you select "associate photography coverage" to learn more about Katie's services & packages)!
